“Gekkoso,” a long-established Ginza art store

Millennium Mitsui Garden Hotel Tokyo is pleased to introduce “Gekkoso,” a long-established Ginza art store founded in 1917. Gekkoso discovered the technique of manufacturing cobalt blue. They were the first to develop purely domestic paints in Japan and are the only art supply store in the world that deals exclusively in original products.
The store is filled with watercolors and acrylics, as well as charcoal, painting knives, and other products necessary for painting. As for the brushes, they are made of 100% precious animal hair and each brush is handmade by craftsmen at the brush studio in Ginza, Tokyo. Therefore, brushes made of horse or pig hair have firmness and resilience, while weasel brushes can draw delicate and soft lines. You will also find other lovely sundries, stylish envelopes, 99 different postcards, and a bag with the trademark "horn that calls friends" on it.
Furthermore, in celebration of its 100th anniversary, they opened Gekkoso Salon Tsuki no Hanare. You can enjoy live music every night and wall exhibitions by contemporary artists that are updated every two weeks.
