Holland Street (Oranda Dori)

  • Charming row of brick buildings housing unique bars and shops
  • This quaint shopping area is located on the east side of Okayama Omotecho Shopping Street. The rustic street is lined with benches and stylish cafes perfect for taking in the atmosphere and people watching. The area is named in memory of Ine Kusumoto, daughter of German physician Philipp Franz von Siebold, who lived and worked at the Dejima Dutch Trading Post. Though her father was German, the area was named Holland Street in part because of the Dutch colony-style area in which they lived.
