「木鼻」は柱を貫通する虹梁（虹のように弓なりに曲がっている梁）の柱から突き出た部位で、名称の由来は「木の端→木端」から転じて「木鼻」と呼ばれます。建替前の浄教寺の伽藍の一部を構成していた木鼻を再利用しました。木鼻は社寺建築の美しさを演出するだけでなく、その時代の文化財的な資料としても貴重なものです。 In Japanese Buddhist architecture, “kibana” decorate the brackets for the rafters. They often have an arch to them, like a rainbow, and can be quite elaborate. When Jokyoji Temple was reconstructed, they reused these decorative brackets. It wasn’t just for the beauty of the temple, but rather because the historical materials held cultural significance.
